Fix the food, not the people

I build AI that helps food companies design what ends up on your plate. My bet: the fastest way to make a population healthier is to fix the defaults, not lecture individuals.

Topics

01

Healthy vs unhealthy is the wrong question

Most people will keep eating processed food. Why improving the defaults on the shelf does more for public health than another diet rule, and what "better" processed food actually looks like.

For general, health and business audiences
02

How your food actually gets designed

Inside food R&D: how a product goes from idea to shelf, why it takes so long, where the evidence comes from, and how AI is starting to change the process.

For podcasts, consumer and industry audiences
03

Cited answers vs plausible answers

What R&D and business teams should ask any AI vendor before trusting its output, and why traceable evidence matters more than a fluent answer.

For industry events, corporate innovation days, business groups

What to expect

I'm a technologist, not a clinician. I talk about how food is made and what the evidence says, and leave medical questions to medical experts.

Medium · 75 words

Aleksandar Boskovski is co-founder and CEO of Alchemyst, an AI company for the scientists and product teams who design food and beverages. Before that he spent 15+ years building digital products, from marketing technology to B2B SaaS. While studying, he worked as a gym instructor with older and rehab clients and saw that nutrition, not training, decided most results. His thesis: the fastest way to make a population healthier is to fix the defaults, not lecture individuals.

Long · 150 words

Aleksandar Boskovski is co-founder and CEO of Alchemyst, an AI company that helps food, beverage and supplement teams move from idea to evidence-backed product faster. He has spent more than 15 years building digital products: he started in digital marketing in 2009, ran his own consultancy from 2011, and moved into product strategy for SaaS companies. In 2017 he co-founded Leafworks, an IT and strategy consultancy, and was one of three managing directors of Xpertify, a B2B marketing-automation startup whose first pilot client was Sage.

His interest in food is older than his company. While studying economics and international business in Germany and Indonesia, he coached members at a family gym, many of them older or returning from injury. Training was rarely the hard part; nutrition was. That shaped his view that most people will keep eating processed food, so the food itself has to get better. He is based in Germany.
